1Brief History for Ball, Charles Lee. " Uncle Charles Lee, (Chick) was born to a large family of eight, to parents Elmer Ellsworth Ball and Mary Alice Wilson Ball. Everyone always call him Chick. He was a brother to my father Leslie William Ball. The boys were all hard workers. They all moved west to Salt Lake City in about 1920 working on the railroad with their father. He was a Section Railroad Tender. In about 1925 the family moved west again to California in search of work. Chick married his bride Esther on 9 July 1936 in Glendale, California. To this union were born Eugene Irvin Ball and Linda Lee Ball. They all moved to Galt, California and had an Almond Farm and Dairy Farm. Very hard work. I remember everyone had to work and get the cows milked twice a day. Then they would pasteurize the milk and put it in sterilized containers and it was picked up early in the morning in front of their farm. I remember being able to sleep on the big haystack out in the side yard. Always had wonderful meals and good memories."
