1) Malcolm Kenneth Stuart was born Malcolm Kenneth Babenroth. Following the divorce of his parents he decided, along with his brothers, to use the surname of Stuart, their mother's maiden name. Their father did not contribute any support and their mother was destitute. This angered the boys and they adopted the Stuart surname though it was never legally changed.
2) His mother moved to Winfield, Illinois following her divorce. He went to grade school here and went to West Chicago High School finishing his sophomore year. He married Margaret Florence Vallette of Wheaton, Illinois and they had four children.
3) They moved their family from Wheaton to Corvallis, Oregon in 1949 where he worked as an electrician for one of the local electrical shops. In the early 1950's he and two of his electrician friends formed their own electrical business in Corvallis by the name of Trico Electric. Some years later he developed kidney cancer and following his recovery from surgery he retired from the business. His death in 1980 was due to emphysema.

"My Great-grandfather was Gregor Stuart and he had one son, Charles, born in Braemar, Bannfshire, Scotland. He married Jean MacIntosh who was born in the Scottish Highlands, in Roaahiew, I think. These are my grandparents. They lived in Braemar near Balmoral Castle. It wasn't called a castle in those days, not until Queen Victoria made it into a palace. Royalty used to go up there in August to the shooting. There were games and much marching and bagpipe playing.
My grandfather had nine children. I'm not sure of the order of their birth but I believe William was the oldest, next Charles, Joe, Alec, Farquhar and George; also Margaret, Jeanne and Isabel.
My grandfather worked for the Duke of Fife whose property adjoined Balmoral Castle. One time when the duke was traveling on the continent, a difficulty arose between my grandfather and one of the workman and my grandfather pulled up stakes and brought his whole family to Canada. One of his sons, I think William Stuart, was a graduate of Aberdeen University. My grandfather had a mill, which still stands in Braemar. He was born in 1805, ten years before the Battle of Waterloo.
When he came to Canada they settled near the Guthries. (See Guthrie book) Grandfather Guthrie had been a landscape architect and he had his place (in Canada) laid out somewhat as that of Overton Estate in Dumbarton (Scotland). Grandfather Guthrie sold his home to him
(Charles Stuart) and he bought another place nearby."."
