41850 Census LaSalle County for Morris Adair: 1840 Census Also Morris Ader. "18 October 1998 letter from Paul Adair in Nebraska padair

Cousin!!!!  How about that?  It was nice to put a bow on that item yesterday.  That sure made my day!! I found them on both the 1840 and  1850 Census.  On 1840 it lists the family in LaSalle county listed as Maris Ader.  On the 1850 Census the family is listed as Morris Ader, and Mary Ader is living with a Smith family, appears to be right next door.  The Smith's are 62 and 64 years old, I suppose Mary was hired to help out??  The 1840 census lists a wife and 3 daughters, no sons.  The 1850 census lists Morris, Abigail, Margaret,Charlotte,Landa, Clarissa T. and Franklin.  No doubt these are our Ader's.....I sure hope the census taker spelled it wrong both times, I'm not fond of this spelling at all!!  Morris does not list owning the farm on the 1850 census.  Also, the ages for Morris and Abigail are listed as 37.  I believe it should have been 39, but maybe one of the daughters helped the census man with the information..
The person at the library that loaned the census index to me suggested that I look to see if Morris happened to have married Abigail in LaSalle County, due to the 7 year period between children, Alanda and Franklin.  She said possibly his first wife may have passed aways or Morris may have been away from the family for a period of time.  It is worth a look.

Finding Morris in Pennsylvania is going to be difficult now if I can't find him under the head of a household.  I may have to resort to finding families with male children and then try to locate school or church records.  I didn't see anything on earlier census schedules for him....but he may have been wandering around Indiana or Ohio or somewhere by 1820 and 1830.

Well, I'd better close for now.  And the 'THANK YOU'  belongs to you, without all your research and information I'd not have a clue who all these children were on the 1850 census, much less know some of them are in Sarpy County!!!

Thanks again Donna...

Cousin Paul."
