1Christ Church Parish, Register of Marriages, Vol.l Sanders RL1/20,p.33.. "Donna:
Margaret Robinette was the first wife of John Renfrow, JUNIOR. They were married in Chester Co., PA about 1717. They had one child, George. Margaret died in 1720.
John, Jr. then married Elizabeth Hollingsworth 9/17/1733 in Frederick Co., VA. They had two children, Jacob 1734 and Enoch 1735. There has been some question as to whether these two were children of her first marriage to Joseph Hollingsworth who died in 1732. They did, however carry the Renfro name. She died in 1735. John, Jr. then married Thomasin Simmons after 1736 in Edgecomb Co., NC and they had children: William, James, Joseph, Stephen, and Noel.
John, JUNIOR died May 30, 1748. This is all pretty well documented.
Robert R.(Rentfree) Renfro was born in 1639 in VA. He married Susan Holmes 1662 in Christ Church, Barbados. Their children were David and John R. 1665. There are records in Barbados that Robert was there the same time as Symon so Symon was PERHAPS his father. ("Symon Renfo newly arrived at James City, London Co., 6 May 1638 VA p. 86 Cavaliers and Pioneers, Vol. 1 Neil M. Nugent, GPC 1974.") Symon then went on to Barbados sometime after, Hester in 1651 and Symon in 1652. ("St. Michael Parish p. 3 Barbados Records baptisms 1637 to 1800, J.M.Sanders GPC")
.
Marriage records there show that Robert married Mary Evans in Christ Church 8/28/1767, two years after John's 1665 birth.
(" Robert Renfree married a Susan Holmes 1 April 1662 Babados, Christ Church Parish, Register of Marriages, Vol. 1, Sanders RL1/20, p. 33.") Mary Evans would have been John's stepmother, IF John was Robert's son. John's mother would have been Susan Holmes who died in 1665.
This is info from research by Joan Renfrow:
"PIONEERS AND CAVALIERS: by Nell M. Nugent, 1974:
Vol. 1, p. 86:
Symon Roufe newly arrived at James City, London Co., 6 May 1638 Virginia.
p. 546:
"Jeremiah Dickinson, (received)500 acres of land, James City County, 6
May 1638, ...for transportation of ten persons including: Eliza Flinton,
Henry Hayes, Robert Newton, Robert Muxford, Sarah Henchley, Eliza Hayes,
Elias Jue, James Hayes, William Gage, Symon Renfe (Renfo)."
Virginia Land Records: Patent Book 1, Part 2: (Proved)
Jeremiah Dickinson, 500 acres of land, James City County, 6 May 1638.
The next time that we find Symon (Simon) is in Barbados at the Baptism
of his Dau. Hester at St. Michael Parish on 2-14-1651 and then last at
son, Symon's Baptism at St. Michael's on 1-4-1652.
The next Renfro... that we find in Barbados is Robert Rentfree. He is found
on the well know HOTTEN'S LIST, by John C. Hotten, P. 484:
Ten acres of land, no wife nor negro slaves mentioned, ano 1680.
"Parish Register of Christ's Church, 22 Dec. 1679"Robert Rentfree owned
10 acres and had no Negroes or servants, 22 De. 1679, Barbados, Christ
Church Parish p. 484. Passenger and immigration lists Index, Vol. 3, HOTTEN'S
LIST
Robert Rentfree in Hotten List of Passenger and immigration 1680 Barbados,
p. 1730, Hotten Original Lists of Person of Quality.
The next we see Robert is at his marriage to Mary Evans on 8-28-1667 at
the Barbados Christ Church Parish. Mary Evans would be Wife No.2 we believe.
We feel that because of the dates, this John belongs to Symon (Simon).
The next Renfro... proof that we find is this mention:
John Rentfro's house mentioned in coroner record at Court, 26 June 1707,
Chester Co., PA. History of Chester Co., PA., G. Cope and J. S. Futhey."
As I said before, everything prior to the children of John 1665 can be confusing and it's easy to confuse John R., SR. and his son, John R., JR.
Harlan."

1One World Tree for Hannah Renfro. "Death date of 1809 in Kentucky was listed in the New FS by Monte Clements montyp27@earthlink.net: I questioned this as I was just curious. The source was One World Family Tree in Ancestry.com. About 8 or more Family Group Records from different people show the same info. Each one had taken the info from the other. How acurate this is I really question. I was hoping for a death cert or index of more quality. Each record references the other. Not a good source. Oh well I just cannot understand how anyone can source this way and get away with it. It goes to show you the NFS is not acurate either. My comments. Donna Autrey July 2008
PS I suspect that someone at sometime found that Hannah died age 45 in maybe a will or probate of some kind but not listed."
